Crazy Memorial Day Weekend

Hello my darlings,

As Memorial Day weekend reaches its final hours, I would like to point out that it has been a doozy, and next year it would be all right if things are a bit more settled. Please and thank you.

What happened, one might ask? I’m glad you did.

Well, on Friday, we got a call that my stepfather had collapsed into a faint at work (which happened to be in a town that is two hours away). My mother was in borderline hysterics, but we managed to get in the car and drive to the hospital to make certain he was all right. We arrived at the hospital. He was fine, smiling and laughing at us for being so worried, and we lingered until about midnight and then we made the two hour drive back home. Once we arrived home, I showered, did my makeup, changed clothes, and slept for about two hours before at 6:30 AM we were back on the road again, returning to the hospital because they had decided to keep him overnight. Once we got there again, it was mostly a lot of waiting as they ran a bunch of tests (all of which came back saying he was fine, it turned out just to be a magnesium deficiency) and around 4 in the afternoon, they told him he could be discharged. We came home, and I still managed to stay up until 1 in the morning before collapsing into a coma. I woke up at 1:30 this afternoon and I haven’t done much with my day. But tomorrow is my two year anniversary and I have been weaving plans for what sort of meal / dessert I am going to prepare. With that, a new D&D campaign to prepare for, a new book to write, Baron of Blood to market, and getting back on board with Future Fantasy Pub. plans, I am feeling quite busy (though happily so).

Oh, and all of my friends want to magically make plans for this week. Not that I’m complaining! It gets quiet around here without them.

So, that is that. I finally made a 1,000 and some word dent in At Dagger’s Point in one sitting (which is unusual for me when I haven’t written in a while). I like the concept so far, and I am gathering more ideas. I will say that the re-introduction of Charon’s character moves things along nicely. Even 18 years into the future he is still a dishonorable rogue.

Baron of Blood goes off sale today… so there will be no telling how my eBook sales will be affected. Hopefully it will be all for the better. Over 600 copies went out over the weekend, and I’m seeing it appear on a lot of Goodreads lists. Plus, I am going through lengths to promote it that I never did with Dragon’s Disciples, including getting more involved with Goodreads groups of the same subject, making physical promotional goodies like my bookmarks … etc.

I am also still searching for a wedding venue. I have sent a pleading email to my university asking if there is some section we can use for free, but I don’t know how that is going to turn out. In the meantime, I am getting some help from family members when it comes to the dress / the reception, and my aunt is a wizard with decorations. So that is some weight off my chest.

I hope you are all having a great Memorial Day weekend! Before I go, I would also like to draw your attention to my Other Services page. I don’t know if I have mentioned it before, but I have a list of services I am willing to offer to anyone who is interested. Including but not limited to book content formatting, c0ver art, bookmarks, business cards, and desktop backgrounds. I charge (very little!) by the hour, but it usually only takes me 2 – 4 hours to get through a project, unless it is a particularly challenging one. I am good with communication and will keep in touch with you, even send you periodic screenshots if you would like just so you know I’m not messing around and wasting our time. So contact me if you have any interested! Always happy to lend a hand to my friends and neighbors … and this is the only type of job I have at the moment. 😉

Even if you are not interested, feel free to spread the word to anyone you feel might be!

Your most adored,

C.N.F.
